Kapil Sharma is the prominent Indian stand-up comedian, tv host, actor, and director. He was born in Punjab’s Amritsar. After triumphing in “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge,” a lighthearted reality competition on Star One, Sharma gained notoriety in 2007.

On Sony’s “Comedy Circus,” he went on to win six seasons. He has also served as the Season 6 anchor for Colors’ “Jhalak Dikhhla Ja” and “Chhote Miyan.”

Following his 2013 hosting of the dance reality TV series Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Sharma debuted his comedic talk show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, on Colors. He served as host until January 2016. Due to disagreements with the channel Colors, Sharma decided to terminate the show after a three-year successful run.

Early Years

In a lower-middle-class household, Sharma was born as Kapil Punj on April 2, 1981, in Amritsar, Punjab, India. His mom’s name is Janak Rani, and she works as a homemaker. His father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, was a head constable in the Punjab Police.

His father was diagnosed with cancer in 1997, and after a seven-year battle with the condition, he passed away in Delhi’s AIIMS hospital in 2004. In addition, he has a sister & a brother. His sister Pooja Pawan Devgan works as a homemaker, while his older brother Ashok Kumar Sharma is a police officer.

Education

He finished his education at Hindu College and Amritsar’s Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hindu College in Amritsar and certification in Computer Applications.

His Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Arts from Apeejay College in Jalandhar is also reportedly something he possesses. Throughout his academic career and after graduation, he directed plays to earn extra money. Furthermore, he won a national theatre competition and received a scholarship.

Family and Married Life

Sharma and Ginni Chatrath were married on December 12 in Jalandhar. On December 10, 2019, they gave birth to their first baby, a girl they named Anayra. The couple welcomed a son named Trishaan as their second child on February 1, 2021. He resides in Mumbai at the moment with his mother, wife, and children.

Today, Kapil Sharma is renowned all over the nation for his offerings to comic shows. The comedian swiftly climbed to fame and became a well-known character in the television industry after starting his career with tv comedy shows. In spite of being a comedian, Sharma has also worked as an actor, producer, and tv host.

Movies

As Thakur’s son in the 2010 film Bhavnao Ko Samjho, Kapil made his debut in a unique role. Sunil Pal directed the motion picture. In 2015, he made his Bollywood acting debut opposite four female actresses in the romantic comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, directed by Abbas Mustan. He had a cameo appearance in ABCD 2, which was directed by Remo D’Souza, in the same year.

Firangi, a historical play directed by Rajiev Dhingra, was his second film, in which he played the male protagonist. In 2018, Sharma produced the Punjabi movie Son of Manjeet Singh. In the 2019 Hindi dub of The Angry Birds Movie 2, Kapil gave his voice. Then, in the comedy-drama It’s My Life in 2020, directed by Anees Bazmee, he portrayed Pyaare, a domestic servant.

Awards

Kapil received the India Television Academy Award for Best Actor Comedy in 2012.

In February 2013 Forbes India magazine ranked Kapil 96th out of the top 100 celebrities, and again in December 2013, he was ranked 93rd on the Celebrity 100 list.

Kapil Sharma was chosen by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise public awareness of sanitation, cleanliness, and other health-related societal issues as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (2014), which he started. He was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan later in 2015 by our late and prior President Pranab Mukherjee to receive recognition for his commitment to the cause through his show.

On The Economic Times’ list of the Most Admired Indian Personalities in 2015, he has named the third most admired Indian celebrity. According to Ormax Media, Kapil has named the most well-liked Indian television star in 2016. In 2016, Forbes India ranked him 11th on their Celebrity 100 list, while in 2017, Forbes ranked him 18th on the same list.
